Bear Creek WILDERNESS

Ken n’ JudyAnn have been performing as Bear Creek WILDERNESS since 2007. (You can call ‘em Wilderness for short!) Ken has a warm smooth voice with a touch of Texas gravel and is gifted on his acoustic guitar. JudyAnn, his wife and sidekick, sings backup and handles percussion. They perform an eclectic mix of Americana, Celtic, Country, Blues, Folk, Rock and Traditional pieces.

They have been entertaining at music festivals, community events and other venues since 2001. They began as Ken n’ JudyAnn , changed to Joyful Noise and finally settled on Bear Creek WILDERNESS after moving from the little city of Josephine Texas to Liberty Hill. “We live in what seems like a wilderness on Bear Creek in the hill country. We love the song, We’ll Camp a Little while in the Wilderness, (on their self-titled CD), and the name just worked.” Together they perform music with echoes from the past mingled with the present. They are currently working on their next CD.

Ken is greatly appreciated as a singer and guitar player but is skilled on many other instruments as well. He plays Mandolin, Irish whistle, Bodhran, Banjo and Hammered Dulcimer. He and his hammered dulcimer are in great demand during the Christmas holidays, “It has a vintage sound with an angelic touch.”

JudyAnn loves to sing. Her joy and enthusiasm spills onto the audience. She is known for her harmony, but occasionally sings lead. She plays the tambourine, bodhran, and an assortment of other percussion pieces. You might even catch her playing her mountain dulcimer, her secret passion. Ken n’ JudyAnn’s voices, like Ken n’ JudyAnn, are a perfect match.

Ken and JudyAnn have years of wilderness experiences in both their lives. They were united in 2000 and their lives and music have been blessed every since. Ken is a native Texan who began guitar at his grandma’s knee. His past is colorful, from homeless teen, to biker, to computer engineer, to musician. JudyAnn also has a colorful history, from car sales, to stunt show, to soldier, to medical field, to music. Her love of singing was inspired by her mom who she tragically lost while a child.
