JudyAnn

Transplanted to Texas Singer Songwriter

The best chapter of JudyAnn’s  amazing life, started when she married Ken Lloyd in 2000. They soon began performing together and she was blessed with the gift of harmony. Today they perform together as Bear Creek WILDERNESS. She adds her two cents by singing, songwriting, playing tambourine, bodhran, mountain dulcimer and other odds and ends. She has a relaxed and fun loving air about her that works well with Ken’s more serious nature. Her voice is a unique blend of sultry and silky. Wilderness is slowly adding her original songs to their eclectic mix of Americana, Celtic, Country, Blues, Folk, Rock and Traditional pieces.

JudyAnn’s life has been a wild ride.  Especially wild was the chapter of Sommer Shadoe, (her stunt life name). She stood in the back of a pickup truck while it was driven on two wheels. Touring was how she met and fell in love with Texas. She turned her stunt costumes in for an Army Uniform and loved being a soldier. Motherhood and care for her grandmother soon claimed her full attention. Later, she became a respiratory therapist and worked with vets at a VA hospital until she met Ken.

JudyAnn grew up in Southern California. She was the daughter of a musical genius who was offered a job with the Hollywood Symphony at the age of 14. Unfortunately, her mother threw her talent and life away, literally. JudyAnn was raised by her grandparents in Sunnymead, a tiny town grown out of potato fields and the influence of an Air Force Base.  Now she lives with her husband and a bunch of kids in the little city of Liberty Hill in the Texas Hill Country on Bear Creek.

Her earliest memories are of singing with her mother, going to the beach and dancing and singing to “tea for two, two for tea.” She loved ridin’ in her mama’s red convertible and going to bars with her. JudyAnn would dance on the bartops and sing at the top of her lungs! Hmmm.

In elementary school, JudyAnn loved choir more than anything. She sang a solo in every concert they performed. Her favorite concerts were at the famous Mission Inn of Riverside California. Her Grandaddy played guitar, banjo, fiddle, harmonica and was especially fond of his ukulele. Her grandma wouldn’t even play the radio!  Her Grandaddy would be real proud that his little JudyAnn carried on his love for music. “Funny how things work out,” says JudyAnn, “Ken and I spent our wedding night at the Mission Inn!”
